New cowboy in town!

Couple of days ago I won an e-auction (very very cheap) and today I finaly finished the cleaning of this dirty boy and took some pics!

Name : Polaroid Instant 10
Born : 1978 in UK
Film : Type 80 peel-apart
Status : No bullets no action

Unfortunately the film needed for this cam is not available anymore :( You can get them rarely on ebay but the price they´re asking for is crazy. I guess I will just add this one to my collection as the first one not working and will be hoping one day someone will start producing these again or some big stock of old film will be found at the bottom of the ocean :)

Tip of the day

When you go to the lab to have your 35mm film developed, ask them to scan it on CD as well. This way you can further adjust the contrast, colours or filters in your computer. It will cost you a bit more but you will see it´s worth it!

Winter Wonderland

I have to say I was surprised and dissapointed today when I picked up my Lomo ActionSampler pics from the lab. Out of 36 pictures only 10 came out! Negatives are empty..I have no idea how that happened but I admit I´m happy to have at least those ten because I like them :)

Here is some of them

As you can see dogs (or any fast moving animal) and people jumping are my favourite themes :)
I love the contrast between the snow and the "object"..

Golden Half cam

I´m all excited about this camera!

It needs 35mm film and splits every picture in half with an irregular black line :)

It belongs to Superheadz company from Japan.

This definitely goes to my wishlist!

Lomo 135 bc

My tough soviet friend ladies and gentlemen!

Name : Lomo 135BC
Born : 1975 in St Petersburg
Film : 35mm
Status : Old but working (I make ugly blurred pictures)

The spring mechanism of this camera allows you to shoot 8 pictures in a row without rewinding. So you just go and click! click! click! like a paparazzi ;)

As most of my cams I won this one on the e-auction (funny how the word "win" sounds like I got it for free - which I didn't :)) and I received this cold russian guy below..BUT being my creative self I modified him a bit :)
So it went from this..

..to THIS!

I spy!

If I compare it to my other Lomo - ActionSampler - it is not toyish at all. Maybe just a bit :) The whole metal construction makes it much heavier and also colder. At the moment I'm almost done with the first film and I will have the result soon.

los lomos

Interesting fact : Lomo was originally made for spy games and international espionage!

History of Polaroid

Today we will educate ourselves a bit!

Interesting fact : Polaroid was founded in 1937 by
Mr. Edwin Land (that´s where the Land cameras come from)

Company initially produced Polaroid Day Glasses, the first sunglasses with a polarizing filter. In 2012 they celebrated 75 years :)

Here is a very nice overview of the Polaroid History.

You better read it I will check on you later!

Fujifilm Instax Mini

Once I found out about this mini fella I had to have him! It makes credit card sized cute little memories in front of your eyes. I could never imagine such a small instant picture could be made :) Flash is included and it runs on four AA batteries. Using is very easy. Just push the button and have fun!

He's cute and he knows it!

Like all instant cameras this one also needs quite expensive film (pack of ten pictures). BUT.
Totally worth it! You can carry those pics in your wallet or pocket anywhere :)
(see the size of the lighter and pics?)

I hope you like our duckface pic ;)

As I mentioned already couple of times (ok may be more then that) there is a bigger brother I wish to have - Instax Wide which can make pics about twice as big (wide format).

Unexpected

I´m shocked! Some time ago I placed a bid in an e-auction for Instax Wide film and I won! I really didn´t see it coming..the only problem is I just don´t have that camera yet :D I planned on buying it in the future but I guess that future is very close now!

I´m sure I will be happy about this later because I got it for a half price but now I just..

Better start saving :)

Tip of the day : Film

Don´t be afraid to use expired film because it can give you some interesting colours and besides that it´s usually cheaper too!

Lomo Actionsampler

Another camera of mine. Member of the "multilens buddies". Very cheap. Very light. Very toy!
It really feels like a cheap toy :) You don't need any special film for this one but thanks to its four lenses it  gives you four shots in one frame (with one click) and that's where the magic comes from! Also since it goes one lens after another it's able to capture the movement and that's the best part of it :) Yaaay!

Overall I use this camera the most and I take it everywhere I know is gonna be some action!

Hope you'll enjoy this special buddy too!

Tip of the day

If you are lucky owner of any multilens camera then you will love this idea!

Polaroid Land Camera 1000

This week I will write a bit about cameras I have and I will start with the first one I got.

A.k.a : OneStep
Born : 1976
Film : SX-70 integral film
Status : I work when I want to work

This Polaroid was my dream ever since I saw it in american movies (never in real life). I don't remember  anyone around me having it (please understand - I am a 90's kid and in Czechoslovakia it wasn't that popular or too expensive to get at that time). I got this grandpa through e-auction for not that much - but here is the kicker - film for these polaroids is quite expensive! You can buy some old expired ones (on ebay) which can get you nice effect or buy a new one for example here. I myself am quite "saving" my film since I had troubles with the red button and four pics came out without warning! So I didn't use it since then :)
Here is what I've done to those "bad" pictures..
Tip : This one has a removable flash on the top and it's not always part of a "deal" so be careful coz I think the flash is important here - despite the fact it makes it a big monster!

Sometimes I wish I could live in 80s , 90s where film was so cheap you could take as much pictures as you do today with digital cam :)

Tip of the day : Golden hour

The first and last hour of sunlight during the day. This should be perfect time for dreamy pics with soft lighting and warm colours.
Here is a calculator for the Golden hour (according to date and location).
More about this here.

I had no idea, can´t wait to try this!

Action with Lomo

Here is couple of my pictures taken with Lomo Action Sampler. These are a great example of what you can do with this toy cam. Thanks to four lenses you can take 4 shots in 1 frame (with just one click) .
For those who are still not sure - go from left top of the picture to the right top counter-clockwise :)

Experiment

So today inspired by this tip (also here) I went outdoors and tried my new/old Lomo 135 BC with homemade colour filters. I used a B&W film and it was my first shooting so I am very excited!

Will post the result as soon as I have the pics :)

First pic

So happy to have this blog!
