Polaroid i-Zone disappointment

So I was talking earlier about this lil fella. I didn't even know it existed and now I know why :D Bought very cheap (including expired film) and by "accident" two cams. You know how it doesn't matter that the film for Polaroid is expired and it's sometimes even better for the result? Well it turns out that in this case it matters and expired film for this camera will not work :( I'm pretty sure it's not because of the camera but the film. And of course they don't make new ones. So these two will go to my non-working cams collection (looking good on the shelf is their only responsibility now :)) These are the moments when I wish to go back in time and take pics with these..
One of my two i-Zone cams  ^
                                                                  "Developed" pictures ^

If any of you have an idea how to make these pics "work" again please let me know ;)

Happy moments in your life

Picking up developed film from the lab is one of the happiest and exciting moments for me - especially when the result is good :) And this time it was very good! I had my first roll of SuperSampler developed and loved almost every picture there. I have to admit I was a bit sceptical about the result after I couldn't get the film out because it was somehow stuck in the camera and I even had to open the back in the dark and "help" it a little which at the end worked great for some of the picures as they were exposed with a bit of light and therefore made interesting effect almost a "hipster" filter :D
None of these pics has been phoshopped or adjusted (only brightness)

Lomo Supersampler

Ok so I finally have time to write about my new (well, bought in april :)) camera Lomo SuperSampler!
It is very light like other toy Lomos but has different (rubber) surface. It feels soft like Batman's suit - not that I ever touched it :D but that's how I imagine it :) But it has one disadvantage - it gets scratched easily :(

As you can see it has four lenses in a row and can make four shots in two different speeds (there is a switch for that on the other side) Fun thing is the circle on the left which you pull before you take a picture! So much fun :)

Triple eye

I got my first roll of film exposed from my Lomo Robot. I have mixed feelings about this..I feel like I've been using it wrong way or something. I had this camera since winter till summer.
See for yourself.

Polaroid Cool Cam. So Cool!

Cool Cams!
Actual name for these colorful Polaroids (basically Polaroid Sun 600) because you have to admit - they are so COOL! First introduced in 1988.

Armadillos I wanna call them - top part with flash goes down when not used and makes a shape of a square armadillo ;)

My favourite one is the pink-grey combination aaand it goes to my wishlist :)

Action!

This is me caught in the action!

Update - New cameras!

Well, summer started and I didn't have time to blog about all the dreams that came true!
I got 2 cameras from my wishlist and one I didn' t even know exists!
Unfortunately I have no picture of the cameras..YET! This might sound crazy but I have no digital camera :D YET!
So just info..I will start with my latest catch - Polaroid I-Zone - tiny camera very toy makes very small instant pictures=stickers! Isn't that cool?? Can't wait to try it out! I bought it via czech auction portal it includes film of 6 pcs and it was very cheap too :) I already bought extra 12pic film on ebay.

Next gentleman in black suit is Lomo SuperSampler!I'm still in the "snap-snap" process I didn't finish my first film yet. I took him to a huge theme park with loads of rollercoasters and other fast moving stuff so I hope it will turn out to be awesome!

Last but not least is older brother to my mini sister. Blue Fujifilm Instax Wide 200 (there is also newer sexier version 210 but this one is more oldschool:)) I handmade a guestbook - photo album for my best friend's wedding and took my mini and wide to the wedding and snap snap snap I made the instant photo album where each guest could write something nice to the newlyweds :)

Sh*t happens!

I dunno if I should cry or laugh..was unloading my Lomo 135BC for the first time and not really sure how it happened..but when I opened it part of the film was cut off the rest..so maybe 10 frames are ruined (threw it away). I will bring the rest to the lab today - can´t wait for the results! If there will be any :D

Update : Only 5 pictures came from the lab and they were very blurred..so I said thank you and walked away :) Now I know my Lomo is not working properly but at least will look good on my shelf!

Tip of the day

As I spent yesterday at the Funfair taking pictures of rollercosters, merry-go-rounds and others I was thinking it might be a challenge sometimes to find moving objects to take a picture of. Especially with the Lomo Actionsampler because you really need some fast movement otherwise your picture will turn out to be four same shots >

> not saying it doesn't look good but I think cams with more then one lens should be used for its original "spy" purpose :) and capture some ACTION!

So here it goes.

Few tips and ideas for shooting with multiple lens cams :

- animal (running, jumping, flying..)

- children & humans in general (running, jumping, flyi..fooling around, skiing, kissing, slaping :)

- rollercoster, merry-go-round, other crazy-spinning-sick-making attractions

- cars, UFOs, airplanes (the closer the better, you will probably not catch any action from a 5km distance ;)

Not to forget - you can also move with your Lomo to create effect of action!

Good luck! :)

Lomo in the family

My cousin is also fan of toy cams you can check out her page here!

Lomo Robot

My new lomo finally arrived! I ordered it here all the way from Hong Kong with free postage = winning :)

Soo cheap & funky!

Name : Lomo Robot
Born : in China
Film : 35 mm
Status : three-eyed cutie

Similar to Actionsampler  but instead of four lenses it has "only" three.

I shot some pics and will post results asap :)

Tip of the day

Don't order anything from Hongkong or China (or these) around the Chinese New Year because they usually take holiday and will not send your package until the end of celebrations :)

Yes, I am waiting now a little bit longer for this cam I ordered through http://www.colorapples.com/

Here is more info about the event.

New cowboy in town!

Couple of days ago I won an e-auction (very very cheap) and today I finaly finished the cleaning of this dirty boy and took some pics!

Name : Polaroid Instant 10
Born : 1978 in UK
Film : Type 80 peel-apart
Status : No bullets no action

Unfortunately the film needed for this cam is not available anymore :( You can get them rarely on ebay but the price they´re asking for is crazy. I guess I will just add this one to my collection as the first one not working and will be hoping one day someone will start producing these again or some big stock of old film will be found at the bottom of the ocean :)

Lomo Robot

Just ordered the 3lens robot and will receive him in three weeks! Yaaay!

Friday, January 25, 2013

Tip of the day

When you go to the lab to have your 35mm film developed, ask them to scan it on CD as well. This way you can further adjust the contrast, colours or filters in your computer. It will cost you a bit more but you will see it´s worth it!

Winter Wonderland

I have to say I was surprised and dissapointed today when I picked up my Lomo ActionSampler pics from the lab. Out of 36 pictures only 10 came out! Negatives are empty..I have no idea how that happened but I admit I´m happy to have at least those ten because I like them :)

Here is some of them

As you can see dogs (or any fast moving animal) and people jumping are my favourite themes :)
I love the contrast between the snow and the "object"..

Golden Half cam

I´m all excited about this camera!

It needs 35mm film and splits every picture in half with an irregular black line :)

It belongs to Superheadz company from Japan.

This definitely goes to my wishlist!

Lomo 135 bc

My tough soviet friend ladies and gentlemen!

Name : Lomo 135BC
Born : 1975 in St Petersburg
Film : 35mm
Status : Old but working (I make ugly blurred pictures)

The spring mechanism of this camera allows you to shoot 8 pictures in a row without rewinding. So you just go and click! click! click! like a paparazzi ;)

As most of my cams I won this one on the e-auction (funny how the word "win" sounds like I got it for free - which I didn't :)) and I received this cold russian guy below..BUT being my creative self I modified him a bit :)
So it went from this..

..to THIS!

I spy!

If I compare it to my other Lomo - ActionSampler - it is not toyish at all. Maybe just a bit :) The whole metal construction makes it much heavier and also colder. At the moment I'm almost done with the first film and I will have the result soon.

los lomos

Interesting fact : Lomo was originally made for spy games and international espionage!

History of Polaroid

Today we will educate ourselves a bit!

Interesting fact : Polaroid was founded in 1937 by
Mr. Edwin Land (that´s where the Land cameras come from)

Company initially produced Polaroid Day Glasses, the first sunglasses with a polarizing filter. In 2012 they celebrated 75 years :)

Here is a very nice overview of the Polaroid History.

You better read it I will check on you later!

Fujifilm Instax Mini

Once I found out about this mini fella I had to have him! It makes credit card sized cute little memories in front of your eyes. I could never imagine such a small instant picture could be made :) Flash is included and it runs on four AA batteries. Using is very easy. Just push the button and have fun!

He's cute and he knows it!

Like all instant cameras this one also needs quite expensive film (pack of ten pictures). BUT.
Totally worth it! You can carry those pics in your wallet or pocket anywhere :)
(see the size of the lighter and pics?)

I hope you like our duckface pic ;)

As I mentioned already couple of times (ok may be more then that) there is a bigger brother I wish to have - Instax Wide which can make pics about twice as big (wide format).

Unexpected

I´m shocked! Some time ago I placed a bid in an e-auction for Instax Wide film and I won! I really didn´t see it coming..the only problem is I just don´t have that camera yet :D I planned on buying it in the future but I guess that future is very close now!

I´m sure I will be happy about this later because I got it for a half price but now I just..

Better start saving :)

Tip of the day : Film

Don´t be afraid to use expired film because it can give you some interesting colours and besides that it´s usually cheaper too!

Lomo Actionsampler

Another camera of mine. Member of the "multilens buddies". Very cheap. Very light. Very toy!
It really feels like a cheap toy :) You don't need any special film for this one but thanks to its four lenses it  gives you four shots in one frame (with one click) and that's where the magic comes from! Also since it goes one lens after another it's able to capture the movement and that's the best part of it :) Yaaay!

Overall I use this camera the most and I take it everywhere I know is gonna be some action!

Hope you'll enjoy this special buddy too!

Tip of the day

If you are lucky owner of any multilens camera then you will love this idea!
I will definitely try it :)

Polaroid Land Camera 1000

This week I will write a bit about cameras I have and I will start with the first one I got.

A.k.a : OneStep
Born : 1976
Film : SX-70 integral film
Status : I work when I want to work

This Polaroid was my dream ever since I saw it in american movies (never in real life). I don't remember  anyone around me having it (please understand - I am a 90's kid and in Czechoslovakia it wasn't that popular or too expensive to get at that time). I got this grandpa through e-auction for not that much - but here is the kicker - film for these polaroids is quite expensive! You can buy some old expired ones (on ebay) which can get you nice effect or buy a new one for example here. I myself am quite "saving" my film since I had troubles with the red button and four pics came out without warning! So I didn't use it since then :)
Here is what I've done to those "bad" pictures..
Tip : This one has a removable flash on the top and it's not always part of a "deal" so be careful coz I think the flash is important here - despite the fact it makes it a big monster!

Sometimes I wish I could live in 80s , 90s where film was so cheap you could take as much pictures as you do today with digital cam :)
